We are making the best out of this situation. And although it was not expressed in the update video, it has been extremely challenging for us to be back in the USA. It was very sad for us to leave Peru and our friends so quickly especially after visiting Ayacucho and feeling so encouraged by the ministry opportunities waiting for us there. We know that our God is good and His plans are greater than our plans but it doesn't mean all of this has been easy. We read a devotional this morning that really hit home and reminded us of things we have been thinking during this quick process. Thinking about them is one thing but engraving them into your heart and holding on to that truth is another. During this time of temporary changed "plans", we hold strong to this truth....
Maybe things are going according to God's plans, but not according to mine, and isn't that so often why we get upset? Our plans are frustrated. Our plans don't work out. We often forget that we're not here to do our will, but the will of the Father. Numbers 16 tells a story of a man named Korah and his sons.
They were set aside for service in the Tabernacle. He went to Moses and said, "You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord's assembly?" Korah had in his mind how he should serve, and what he had been chosen to do wasn't good enough. He wanted what Moses had, yet that wasn't what God had for him. Moses then replied to Korah saying, "Is it not enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them?" Is it not enough for you?
May the Lord continue to reveal to us (and everyone) that where we serve is not important. What is important is who we are serving. The God of all creation, the King of the Ages- HE is the one who has set us apart, brought us near to Himself, and called us to minister to His people. Whether it is in Peru or Austin, may we share the gospel with all people of the world and make His name known.
